Descartes slept more than any other philosopher.
In sleep came dreams;
In dreams, inspiration, vocation,
Unity of all sciences and philosophy,
The total picture - And all the product of one brain.
Introspection.
Diving deep to the core.
Stripping of doubt.
I doubt.
I think.
I exist.
I doubt I exist.
I do not doubt I exist.
I must exist to doubt.
No doubt.
God exists.
I think of God.
God makes me think of God.
God knows
I would not think of him
Were he not there.
God is no deceiver;
He gives me good ideas,
Inborn, innate ideas.
All can be revealed in the light of reason.
He starts it all,
Sets the clock,
Tick tock tick tock;
Now find the key, open the lock,
Tick tock tick tock.
All will be revealed.
A world created with geometric precision,
A maze of amazing proportion.
The pattern waits to be revealed.
It seems reasonable.
Without doubt
Descartes slept a lot.
And the world of science dreams on:
A theory of everything;
The universe explained.
I sleep.
In sleep come dreams,
In dreams doubts,
A world of unravelling uncertainties.
In doubts, possibilities.
Not just a road divided, a choice to be made.
Instead, a multiplicity of pathways,
A safety net, not a tightrope:
No predetermined destination;
The journeying more important than the goal;
The striving more important than the reward;
The search more important than the finding;
The questioning more important than answers.
And in a waking world
Of dreamers of a different kind,
We can all rest a little easier.
No doubt.
